Thirty one William Paca Middle School students in grades six through eight recently put their math skills to work for a great cause and raised $2,423 in the St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which helps families with children fighting childhood cancer.
Students from Jessica Ragazzi’s, Deb Werner’s, Rob Acierno’s, Kevin Durant’s and Joe Coleman’s classes participated by obtaining pledges from family and friends to sponsor them solving math problems in their St. Jude Math-A-Thon Funbooks. Sixth grader Lianna Barbara raised the highest individual amount with $490.
“Students were inspired by the stories of the survivors that were treated at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and are very passionate about helping others in need,” said William Paca Middle School math teacher Jessica Ragazzi.
