Recently, William Floyd Elementary School art teacher Linda Braverman and teaching assistant Alyssa Miller along with Theresa Bianco, Chairperson of the Visual Arts for the William Floyd School District, collaborated on a “Paint Night” sponsored by the William Floyd Elementary School PTO and attended by nearly 50 people. The artists had the opportunity to create an acrylic winter landscape scene complete with birch trees, snow and a cardinal. They also learned brush techniques, blending and composition; all while being encouraged to add their own flair to their paintings. Their inspiration was the colorful, loose brushstrokes of Impressionist artists. “It was a night full of fun and laughter as our adult painters learned skills that our art teachers are instilling in young artists throughout the district every day,” said Mrs. Bianco.
