The William Floyd School District has appointed Phinley Phillips as the new Director of Facilities for the William Floyd School District. In this role, Mr. Phillips will report directly to David Beggins, Assistant Superintendent for Business, and will oversee all aspects of facilities management including operations, maintenance, grounds, and environmental services. Mr. Phillips will also work with architectural and engineering firms on capital improvement and energy efficiency projects.

Mr. Phillips has been in the facilities and operations management field for nearly 15 years, beginning his career as an Engine Officer in the Merchant Marines on vessels with the U.S. Department of Defense. Deciding to give up a life at sea, Mr. Phillips transitioned to shore providing energy management services to the NYS Office of Mental Health with Aramark’s Facilities Services unit. Mr. Phillips continued his career development through positions at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue and also Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he has spent the previous six years as Assistant Director of Plant Engineering.
Mr. Phillips earned his Bachelor of Science in Facilities Engineering from SUNY Maritime College in Throggs Neck, NY; and graduated with a Third Assistant Engineer’s license from the US Coast Guard. He received his Master of Science in Facilities Management from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, MA.
